Tip on sha256sum a downloaded file

Have you ever downloaded a file from internet. Most files in the internet will be hosted in multiple mirrors. The possibility of the download file to be tampered cannot be ruled out. So it is always advised to  checksum your file. I used  sha256sum but how do i compare.  harish@harish-hp:~/Downloads$ sha256sum ideaIC-2016.3.5.tar.gz | grep '85da1e81036968c272b66f6e4d62c117455352ebc769692742a6abfc97ecbc6c' Output : 85da1e81036968c272b66f6e4d62c117455352ebc769692742a6abfc97ecbc6c  ideaIC-2016.3.5.tar.gz ↟However use grep to compare the two  sha256sum output. if you are able to grep the expected key then it matches. If there is no output then the key does not matches.

Wireless Configuration after fresh Ubuntu installation

Today i did reformatted my old HP laptop and installed a fresh copy of ubuntu. I was very excited to start over with a fresh machine. However to my dismay i found that the wireless wifi was not working. Then Synaptic came to my rescue... It is a graphical front-end to apt, the package management system in Ubuntu. First I had to install it using the below commands   sudo apt-get update   sudo apt-get upgrade   sudo apt-get install synaptic Then i opened Synaptic and searched for my driver. The beauty was all the dependent packages will be installed as well. Then BOOM :-) the wireless is working... connected to my home WiFi and happy days....

Publish git to multiple remotes

This can be easily achieved by adding git remote push endpoints. Eample : git remote set-url origin --push --add <<repo1>> git remote set-url origin --push --add <<repo2>> now the below will push the code to two repositories in a single command git push origin master
